01 / The difference

Bali has plenty of souvenirs. This is not one.

Dear traveller,

  • Have you walked past the same sarong in ten different shops?
  • Are you down to your last few days with nothing worth keeping?
  • Do you want one piece that brings this trip back every time you wear it?

You came for something real. We understand.

Most of what you find here is printed by the thousand, far from Bali. Market prints every visitor takes home. Hotel boutiques with high prices and nothing local. Bulky gifts that never fit the suitcase.

Fly home with those, and the trip fades with them.

You do NOT need to shop more. You need ONE piece with a story.

From pencil line to finished silk

Five steps, one workshop, all in Bali.

  1. Pencil tip tracing a Zebra line on stretched white silk

    01

    Draw

An artisan draws each design by hand, in pencil, on white silk.

  2. Brush laying deep colour inside the pencil lines

    02

    Paint

Colour is brushed on by hand, one area at a time.

  3. Painted silk lengths hanging to set in the workshop

    03

    Set the colour

The colour is fixed into the silk so it stays bright.

  4. Hands cutting silk along a paper pattern

    04

    Cut

Each piece is cut to pattern in our Ubud workshop.

  5. Seamstress finishing a kimono hem

    05

    Sew

Sewn and finished in the same workshop, then sent to our stores.

“We paint traditional batik by hand on premium silk, with designs drawn from Bali’s tropical nature. No two pieces come out the same, and none of them go out of style.”
